WIP models

I'm working on a few models in Rhin0, a programme I am quite enjoying using, especially given my new interest in Parametric Architectural Design and lifelong fascination with Math and Physics. I have heard that this is strength of the programme (particularly with Plug-Ins like T-Splines. This was a WIP from our first exercise, to build (from given ground plans) a house to scale in Rhino 3D. I have another version that has full stairs but I want to texture and light it as well, before posting it.

graphic design

Here is a piece I did for Gurney's "Li0nFish" design competition. I had just recently learned Illustrator so thought that more than anything, it would be a good opportunity to get my feet wet using the programme.

Digital Environment Renders

I took a class learning the programme, Vue. I used it to create some Digital Landscapes.

Digital Paintings

I don't spend as much time as I should painting digitally. I took a class with a sculptor and designer this term that was primarily character design based. 1. the first is a creature painted over from a failed sculpture from designer Jordu. I cropped composed it and painted it over to create something new from what he gave us 2.I made a fake poster for his class for a fake movie. I wanted to use the idea of an old man, predominantly seen in a position of weakness but with a futuristic breathing device that actually put him in a more powerful position than the typical person. It would provide a dichotomy, I thought, because we typically see a senior person with a breathing apparatus as being in a state of dependency and weakness, so I wanted to reverse that role. 3.We had a sculpt provided by Jordu and I used it to make it into a character that was an old lady type neighbour who one would imagine would have curlers in her hair and complain that the her neighbours were too noisy, but pushed more and more psychotic and scary.

Oil paintings

I started oil painting this semester, but had painting previously in gouache in high school. I'm always looking to improve, but I enjoy painting in oils very much.

drawings

I do life drawing every week, as well as drawings in class; both short and long. I enjoy long pose a lot more but I understand the importance of both. Here are a few. I try not to treat each drawing as a 'sketch' and put my best into each one.

Sculpture

I started sculpting this year and I really enjoy it a lot and would like to integrate it more into my design process as I improve. This is one I did from WED clay.

Ideas For Design

Here are some of my design ideas based on locations we visited for Peter Han's Vis Communication class taken at Concept Design Academy The first is of a plant based prison set in the future called Banyan 5000 because its structure is based on that of the Banyan tree. It houses prisoners and provides nutrients to keep them in a coma but alive via a root system that also transmits data about each prisoner. The second is a sci fi police vehicle that patrols the immigration borders based on the structure of an insect The third is of a futuristic house based on the concept of a Jellyfish. It grows beneath the surface of the ocean and rises to the top, and uses systems such as osmosis to filter clean air, and other systems like desalination to send purified water to the person living inside.
